This years Great Canadian VW Show(the 22nd Annual) took place in downtown Vancouver at the Concord Pacific Expo Site and it was a big improvement over the previous years in Langley. With a much more scenic backdrop in every direction you could look(Telus World of Science, BC Place, Rogers Arena, the downtown skyline, the Olympic Athletes Village, False Creek, and of course the Northshore Mountains), as well as plenty more space, and easy access for the general public to check out everyones VW creations, the venue made for a perfect home for the 2013 show. It seemed to be a very large showing of VW’s this year and with it a few odd and rare cars, like the old VW Dasher Wagon, the mud covered Mk2 Golf Country edition, and the Ford Zetec powered VW Transporter among others. There were also some pristine examples of Karmann Ghia’s(check below for the black convertible and red coupe), and Busses to be seen. As usual the show had a pie eating contest, a Beetle stuff(how many sweaty, sticky people can you jam into a New Beetle on a hot summer day), and plenty of awards and prizes to give out. Being right along the False Creek sea wall there was no shortage of interesting bicycles and dogs making their way through the show area too. Yup, another Great year for the Great Canadian VW show has gone by. Big thanks to all those involved in putting the show together and keeping things fun!
